Swap Terms

Effective date: September 29, 2026. Rules version for new swaps: funding-window-auto-return-v2.

These Swap Terms cover swaps between Gridcoin (GRC) and Curecoin (CURE) that you can make on HeliEx without an exchange account. The swap service is operated by HeliEx ("HeliEx", "we", "us").

GRC and CURE only. HeliEx deals only in GRC and CURE. We do not accept, hold or pay out anything else. All swap amounts, fees and limits are stated in GRC or CURE.

How you agree to these terms. When you tick the box on the swap page and accept a swap, you agree to these Swap Terms and to the swap details shown to you at that moment. Those details are saved with your swap and form part of these terms for that swap: the amount, both addresses, the estimate, your minimum, the fees, and the funding and return rules, including their version. If the details saved with your swap differ from this page, the saved details apply to that swap.

Swaps accepted earlier. A swap accepted under an earlier rules version (called "v1" below) keeps the rules that were shown and saved when it was accepted. Where the v1 rules differ, this page says so.

The Terms of Service apply to exchange accounts. The Privacy Policy explains what data a swap records. These Swap Terms are written in English. Any translation is for convenience only, and the English text applies.

1. What the swap service is

A swap exchanges one coin for the other: GRC to CURE, or CURE to GRC. You send coins to a deposit address we create for your swap. We trade them and send the other coin to the receiving address you gave us.
Custodial while in transit. From the time your deposit reaches our wallet until the payout or return is sent, HeliEx holds your coins and records them in our internal ledger as belonging to your swap.
Your swap is traded against the public HeliEx GRC/CURE order book. That order book may include orders placed by HeliEx or its operator, as well as orders from other HeliEx users. HeliEx does not set a separate swap price: you get the price the order book offers at the moment of the trade, subject to your minimum.
HeliEx does not give investment, tax or legal advice. The estimate, warnings and suggested minimums are not recommendations.
Coin prices are volatile and you could lose value. Only swap amounts you can afford to lose.

2. Who may use the swap service

You must not use the swap service where doing so is not allowed, or if you are subject to sanctions that apply to HeliEx.
The coins you send must be yours, or you must be authorized to send them.
While the swap service is an invite-only beta, you need a personal invite link. Invites expire (by default after 30 days) and limit how many swaps can be active at once and how many can be started in total. Features, limits and availability may change during the beta.
We may refuse or pause swaps for anyone, at any time.

3. How a swap works

3.1 Estimate

You choose the direction, the amount, a receiving address and a return address. We then show an estimate of what you will receive after fees, the minimum you will accept, the trading fee, the network fee and the refund fee. You have 60 seconds to accept an estimate; after that you must ask for a new one. The estimate is not a reserved price, because the order book can change before your deposit confirms.

3.2 Your minimum (price protection)

You set the lowest amount you will accept. You can choose a maximum price drop of 1%, 2% (the default), 5% or a custom percentage from 0 to 99.99%, or enter an exact coin amount instead. A percentage is turned into a fixed coin amount once, when the estimate is made, and is rounded up to the coin's precision. That fixed amount is shown in the estimate, saved when you accept, and does not change afterwards. An exact amount cannot be higher than the estimate.

3.3 Far-from-market warning

If the estimate is more than 10% worse than the market mid-price (the average of the best bid and best ask) or, if one side of the order book is empty, the last trade price, we show a warning and you must confirm it before you continue. The warning is for your information only. It does not change your terms.

3.4 Acceptance

When you accept, you confirm that you have checked both addresses. From then on the addresses are locked, and neither you nor HeliEx support can change them. We save the accepted terms and use them unchanged for your swap.

3.5 Deposit instructions

Next we create a unique deposit address for your swap. Send the exact amount shown, ideally in one transaction, and only to that address. If a wallet safety check cannot finish within 10 minutes, no deposit address is created and your request is held for review. Do not send coins until the page shows a deposit address.

3.6 Funding window

You must send the agreed amount within 1 hour of the deposit address becoming ready. If you sent too little, you may top up the same address within that hour. Only deposits first seen by our wallet within the window count toward funding the swap. If our deposit tracking is interrupted for more than 90 seconds, the window is extended by the length of the interruption. Never reuse a deposit address after the swap has completed or expired.

3.7 Confirmations

Before we trade, we wait until a GRC deposit has 12 network confirmations or a CURE deposit has 6. Confirmations may finish after the funding window ends: the window is a deadline for sending, not for confirming. We use the same depths (12 GRC / 6 CURE) to decide when a payout or return is final.

3.8 The trade

Once your deposit has confirmed, we trade only the agreed input amount, all at once, against the order book. Either the full amount trades and your payout after fees meets your minimum, or nothing trades at all. We do not try the trade again later (see section 6). For GRC-to-CURE swaps, the CURE you buy is rounded down to 6 decimal places. Any GRC left over from that rounding is still yours and is returned under section 7.

3.9 Payout

We send one payout of the traded coin to your receiving address, after taking off the network fee. If a payout's status becomes uncertain, we check what happened before doing anything else. We never send a second "replacement" payment without checking first.

3.10 Your addresses

Each address must be a valid address on the right network (GRC or CURE) that you control. We check that an address is valid for that network, but we cannot check who owns it. If you use an exchange deposit address, including a HeliEx account deposit address, check that exchange's minimum deposit and confirmation rules. They apply to your payout and to any return after fees.

3.11 Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed

Once a payout or return is sent, it cannot be recalled. Coins sent to a wrong address, or on the wrong network, may be lost for good.

3.12 Background processing

Your swap keeps processing after you close the page.

4. Fees

All fees are shown in the estimate or on this page before you accept. The amounts shown in your estimate are the amounts that apply to your swap.

Trading fee. The HeliEx order-book trading fee is 0.2% of the GRC value of each fill, with a minimum of 0.00000001 GRC per fill, and only the side selling CURE pays it.
- CURE to GRC: you pay 0.2% of the GRC value of each fill. It is taken from your GRC before payout and is already included in the estimate.
- GRC to CURE: you pay no trading fee, because the order-book user selling CURE pays it.
Network fee. A fixed amount of the coin you receive, shown in the estimate and never more than 0.01 of that coin. It is taken from your payout and pays the blockchain transaction fee for the payout.
Refund fee. A fixed amount of the coin you sent, shown in the estimate and never more than 0.01 of that coin. It pays the blockchain transaction fee for a return, and is taken when we return your coins because:
- your swap was not funded in time (an expired or partial deposit, including deposits that arrive after the funding window but before that return is prepared); or
- your minimum was not met at trade time (section 6).
No fee on overpayment returns. When we return extra coins after a completed swap (section 7), no refund fee is taken, and HeliEx pays up to 0.01 of the coin in network cost.
Late-deposit fee. Each deposit that arrives after your swap has completed is returned less a fee of 0.01 of that coin, which pays the blockchain transaction fee for that return (section 8).
No fee is taken while a balance is held because it is too small to return.
Price impact and the gap between buy and sell prices on the order book are not fees, but they do affect how much you receive.

5. Limits

All limits are stated in GRC or CURE.

Per swap: 1–500 GRC or 0.1–500 CURE sent.
Swaps per person: for public swaps, at most 3 unpaid swaps (accepted but still waiting for your deposit) and at most 10 active swaps (not yet finished) at the same time. During the invite-only beta, each invite's own limits on active and total swaps apply instead.
Other caps: other capacity and liquidity caps may apply, for example on the amount paid out per swap and on the total value of unfinished swaps we hold at any one time. If a cap is reached, the swap cannot be created and you will be asked to try again later.
Liquidity: if the order book cannot fill your full amount, we cannot give an estimate.
Rate limits: too many requests in a short time are refused for about a minute.
We may change these limits at any time. The limits in force when you accept apply to your swap.

6. Price risk and what happens if your minimum is not met

The market can move between the time you accept and the time your deposit confirms.

If, when we come to trade, your full amount cannot be traded with a payout (after fees) at or above your minimum, no trade happens and we do not try the trade again later. Instead, we return your full input (everything you deposited for the swap) to your return address, less the refund fee. If less than 0.01 of the coin would be left after the fee, it is not sent; it stays recorded as owed to you (section 7).

Your minimum limits your price risk: you either receive at least your minimum, or you get your coins back less the refund fee.

If the trade cannot happen for another reason, for example because the order book no longer has enough coins to fill your amount, nothing is traded and your swap is held for operator review (section 9).

Swaps accepted under the v1 rules: a swap whose minimum is not met is held for operator review, and your coins stay recorded as owed to you.

7. Returns

These rules apply to swaps accepted under the "Funding & returns" rules version funding-window-auto-return-v2. Swaps accepted under the v1 rules keep the return rules shown at acceptance. Swaps accepted without any "Funding & returns" rules have every return handled by an operator.

Overpayment. Only the agreed amount is traded. After your payout is final, we automatically send one combined return of what is left, including any extra you sent and any GRC left over from rounding. It goes to your return address with no refund fee, and HeliEx pays up to 0.01 of that coin in network cost.
Large overpayments. If you send more than 500 coins above the agreed amount, nothing is traded or returned automatically. The whole swap is held for operator review.
Not funded in time. If the full amount has not arrived within the funding window, nothing is traded. Once the deposits have confirmed, we automatically return everything received in one return, less the refund fee. This also covers deposits that arrive after the window but before that return is prepared.
Minimum not met. Your full input is returned less the refund fee (section 6).
Deposits after your swap has completed are returned one deposit at a time under section 8.
Minimum return: 0.01 of the returned coin, after any fee. Smaller amounts are not sent. They stay recorded as owed to you, and no fee is taken while they are held. You can ask about such an amount through support (section 9).
Returns only ever go to the return address you gave when you accepted. That address cannot be changed.
If a safety check fails, processing stops for review. We do not send blind replacement payments.

Swaps accepted under the v1 rules: coins that arrive after the single automatic return has been prepared, or after the swap has finished, are not returned automatically; an operator reviews them.

8. Late deposits (coins sent after your swap has completed)

Do not send coins to a deposit address after your swap has completed. A swap is completed when its payout or its single return is final. If you do send more, and your swap was accepted under the rules version funding-window-auto-return-v2:

Each deposit is handled separately. It is returned to the return address saved with your swap, less a fee of 0.01 of that coin. If less than 0.01 would be left after the fee, nothing is sent and the amount stays recorded as owed to you.
Nothing is returned before the deposit is fully confirmed (12 confirmations for GRC, 6 for CURE).
How each deposit is returned depends on its size and on when it arrives:
- Up to 500 GRC or 250 CURE, first seen within 24 hours after your swap completed: returned automatically once confirmed.
- Above 500 GRC or 250 CURE and up to 1,000 GRC or 500 CURE, or first seen more than 24 hours after your swap completed: held for 48 hours from when the deposit is confirmed, then returned automatically unless a HeliEx operator stops the return.
- Above 1,000 GRC or 500 CURE: held until a HeliEx operator approves the return.
A deposit that arrives before your swap has completed but is not covered by its payout or its single return (for example, one sent while that payment is still confirming) is held for operator review.
If an operator stops a return or has not yet approved it, the deposit is held (section 9) and stays recorded as owed to you.

9. Held swaps and support

"Held" means automatic processing has stopped and an operator must review your swap or deposit. Your coins stay recorded as owed to you while it is held.
We aim to review held swaps and held deposits within 3 days. This is a target, not a guarantee.
To contact support, use the support ticket form at About → Support. The form asks for an email address so that we can reply.
Give your swap reference in the "Swap reference" field. It looks like HX-XXXX-XXXX-XX and is shown on your swap page. It lets support find your swap. You can also give your deposit address or deposit transaction ID, which are public on the blockchain.
Never share your recovery link with anyone, including HeliEx staff. HeliEx staff will never ask for it. Do not paste it into a support ticket or an email. Your swap reference is not your recovery link, and support does not need the link to help you.
Support cannot change the addresses on an accepted swap.

10. Your recovery link

When you accept, you get a private recovery link for your swap. The secret part comes after the "#" in the link. The page sends it to our server only to look up your swap. We store a one-way hash of it, not the secret itself.
The link works like a key: anyone who has it can see your swap, including amounts, both addresses, the deposit address, transaction IDs and progress. They cannot change the addresses or send coins.
The link works for up to 90 days from when your estimate was made. After that it stops working, but any processing that is still under way continues. Keep your own record of your swap reference, the deposit address and the transaction IDs.
We cannot issue a new link if you lose yours. Contact support with your swap reference instead. Support may ask you to prove the swap is yours, for example by giving the deposit address and the deposit transaction ID.

11. Availability and maintenance

We may pause swaps at any time, for example for maintenance, wallet or blockchain safety checks, capacity limits or suspected abuse. While swaps are paused, new swaps cannot start and existing swaps may be delayed.
If a safety pause stops processing, your accepted terms are kept. Processing may resume automatically, or may need an operator.
We do not guarantee processing times or that the service will always be available.

12. Prohibited use

You must not use the swap service to:

move the proceeds of crime, launder money, finance terrorism or get around sanctions;
send coins you are not entitled to send;
commit fraud, or interfere with or overload the service, its rate limits, its invite limits or its safety checks.

If we suspect prohibited use, we may refuse, pause or hold a swap, and we may report it to the appropriate authorities.

13. Risks

Coin prices can change quickly, and the order book may have little liquidity.
Blockchains can suffer delays, congestion, forks or reorganizations, and wallet software can have faults. These can delay swaps or cause them to be held.
Anything you do on a public blockchain stays public for good.

14. Limitation of liability

We will process each swap according to its accepted terms and keep an accurate record of the coins we hold for it.
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses caused by addresses you give us, market movements, blockchain delays or failures, or third-party services.
To the extent the law allows, HeliEx's total liability for a swap is limited to the coins HeliEx received for that swap.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot legally be limited.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Swap Terms. Changes apply only to swaps accepted after the change is published. A swap you have already accepted keeps the terms shown and saved when you accepted it.

16. Disputes

If you disagree with how a swap was handled, please contact support first (section 9) and give your swap reference. We will review the swap record and the blockchain data and reply to you. Nothing in these terms removes any right you have that cannot be excluded by agreement.
